On Friday, Peacock and Sony Pictures TV announced the greenlight for a movie based on the Dan Harmon comedy “Community,” bringing back the original cast.
“Community” creator Harmon and Andrew Guest will be the executive producers and writers. Joel McHale, Russ Krasnoff and Gary Foster will also serve as executive producers.
Sony Pictures TV and Universal Studio Group’s Universal Television shingle will be the studios on the show. Director and an estimated premiere date, have not yet been revealed.
The show ran for six seasons between 2009-2015, completing the first half of the show’s “six seasons and a movie” prophecy, since then fans have been hoping for a film to wrap it up.
Last month, Harmon told Newsweek that there was an outline for the film “there’s a product put together and pitched out in the world. I guess that’s how real it is.”
