Amazon to Buy Primary Health-Care Provider One Medical for $3.9 billion

Amazon is acquiring One Medical for approx. $3.9 billion, paying $18 a share for the primary health-care provider, in an all-cash deal.
The deal deepens Amazon's presence in the health care sector, an area it has sought to expand into.

In 2018, Amazon purchased PillPack for $750 million, using the acquisition to launch its own online pharmacy years later.

The company is also working on its telehealth service Amazon Care, which seeks to develop and provide at-home medical diagnostics.
On Thursday, Amazon’s stock closed up 1.5%.

One Medical's parent company, 1Life Healthcare's shares climbed 69%.
