Two groups of customers separately filed proposed class action lawsuits against Amazon in May and June.
One group accuse Amazon of breaching its contract, when it ended free delivery for Prime members on Whole Foods orders over $35, without lowering the subscription price.
Amazon acquired Whole Foods in 2017, to offer high-quality and affordable food for its customers, Prime members would receive "special savings and in-store benefits."
The other group accuse Amazon of charging clients a hidden delivery fee, alluding to a $9.95 service fee.
In February 2018, Amazon announced it would offer free two-hour delivery.
Three years later, in September 2021, Amazon told customers in an email it was ending free delivery, instead offering a $9.95 service fee for all grocery orders.
On top of that, Amazon adds a $5 tip to every order. Information explaining how to opt-out is tiny and difficult to find, according to the lawsuit.
