- Ukraine’s Justice Minister German Galushchenko has been suspended pending an investigation into a major corruption scandal in the energy sector.
- The scandal involves alleged kickbacks worth approximately $100 million linked to Energoatom, the state nuclear power company. Allegations include bribery, abuse of office, and embezzlement related to control of procurement and funds in the energy sector.
- Five people have been detained, seven others identified as suspects, including businessman Timur Mindich, a close ally of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, accused of orchestrating the scheme.
- Galushchenko, who previously served as Energy Minister from 2021 to July 2025, is not formally charged but said he supports his suspension and will defend himself in court.
- Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko appointed Deputy Minister Lyudmyla Suhak as acting justice minister during the investigation.
