The U.S. military bombed three Iranian nuclear facilities, including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, early Sunday, marking a major escalation in the Middle East as Washington joins Israel’s ongoing campaign to halt Iran’s nuclear program.
U.S. President Donald Trump called the strikes a “spectacular military success,” declaring the sites “completely and fully obliterated,” and warned Iran against retaliation, threatening further strikes. The strikes involved B-2 stealth bombers with bunker-buster bombs to penetrate heavily fortified underground facilities, especially at Fordow, located inside a mountain. U.S. submarines also launched thirty Tomahawk missiles to complement the airstrikes. Iran confirmed the attacks but reported no significant damage or radioactive leaks, insisting its nuclear program will continue.
The strikes follow more than a week of Israeli attacks on Iran’s defenses and infrastructure, followed by retaliatory missile strikes from Iran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the U.S. action as historic and decisive in confronting what Israel views as an imminent nuclear threat from Iran.
