Israel has declared full air superiority over Iran and launched extensive strikes on Tehran, targeting Iran’s nuclear sites, military infrastructure, and top commanders. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the control of Iranian airspace as a “game-changer” in the campaign to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
The Israeli military claims to have destroyed a significant portion of Iran’s missile launchers, command centers, and air defenses. The Israeli Defense Forces issued evacuation warnings affecting up to 330,000 residents in northern Tehran, informing civilians to leave ahead of planned attacks on “military infrastructure.” This tactic echoes similar warnings issued by Israel in Gaza and Lebanon. Meanwhile, Iran has threatened to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and deny intentions to develop nuclear weapons.
Iran has retaliated with more than 370 ballistic missiles and drone strikes on Israeli cities, killing 24 civilians and injuring more than 500 people. Meanwhile, Iran reports over 224 civilian deaths and over 1,400 injured from Israeli strikes.
U.S. President Donald Trump, returning early from the G7 summit in Canada, reiterated his hardline stance against Iran’s nuclear ambitions and urged the immediate evacuation of Tehran. Meanwhile, Netanyahu has suggested that targeting Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei could end the conflict.
