The fight, which was streamed live on Netflix, failed to meet expectations as Tyson, 58, showed his age and struggled to mount any offense against Paul, 27. Tyson, in his first professional fight in nearly 20 years, landed only 18 punches compared to Paul’s 78. Tyson, who wore a knee brace, admitted to fighting with a leg injury but refused to use it as an excuse. Despite the loss, Tyson expressed satisfaction with his performance and remained uncertain about a potential return to the ring.
The event, which drew 72,300 fans and over 120 million viewers on Netflix, saw a record $20 million at the gate, making it one of the biggest US boxing events in history. Paul, now with an 11-1 record, declared he is ready to fight anyone, potentially even Mexican boxing star Canelo Alvarez.
