North Korean leader Kim Jong Un recently oversaw a test of suicide drones and called for their mass production, emphasizing the need to update military strategies in response to the growing use of drone warfare worldwide, Reuters reports.
These types of Drones have been widely used in conflicts like the war in Ukraine and the Middle East. North Korean state media KCNA reported Kim’s directive to establish a system for mass production of drones, emphasizing their growing importance in modern warfare. The introduction of these drones has led to tensions with South Korea, with North Korean drones breaching South Korea’s airspace, prompting South Korea to enhance its defense systems.
This development follows North Korea’s increasing military cooperation with Russia, raising concerns about potential Russian assistance in developing these drones. The two nations have strengthened their strategic partnership, which includes a mutual defense pact, and North Korean troops have reportedly fought alongside Russian forces in Ukraine.
