This victory will allow Trump to work with a GOP-controlled Congress and a conservative-dominated Supreme Court to implement policies, including mass deportations, tax cuts, and government overhauls.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, backed by Trump, aims to overhaul government programs and support Trump’s “America First” agenda. Meanwhile, Trump’s allies have signaled plans for retribution against his legal troubles, including potential investigations into special counsel Jack Smith. However, the slim Republican majority in the House could present challenges, especially from internal party divisions between hardline conservatives and moderates.
Senate Republicans, led by newly elected Majority Leader John Thune, have a 53-seat majority and are working to support Trump’s agenda, ensuring a smooth confirmation of his Cabinet picks and possible judicial appointments. However, the GOP faces internal divisions over Trump’s more extreme proposals, including the controversial nomination of Matt Gaetz as Attorney General.
