Poland’s National Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the potential involvement of a foreign intelligence service in sabotage activities across Poland and other EU member states, but has not specifically named Russia. The investigation has led to the arrest of four individuals linked to a sabotage group that allegedly sent parcels containing concealed explosives to various EU countries and the UK. The group’s objective was reportedly to test the shipment methods for future packages intended for the US and Canada.
The US Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) has implemented additional security measures for cargo shipments bound for the United States in response to these threats. Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, European governments have been increasingly alert to the risk of Russia-sponsored sabotage and destabilization.
