Turkish Airlines Pilot Dies During Flight, Makes Emergency Landing in New York

A Turkish Airlines flight from Seattle to Istanbul made an emergency landing in New York after the captain İlçehin Pehlivan, 59, lost consciousness and died during the flight, AP News reports.

Despite medical intervention, he could not be revived, and the co-pilot decided to land the aircraft at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Turkish Airlines made arrangements for passengers to continue their journey from New York.

Pehlivan had been with Turkish Airlines since 2007 and had passed a routine health check in March with no issues. The airline expressed deep condolences to his family and colleagues.
