Hezbollah launched rockets targeting Israel’s third-largest city of Haifa, injuring 10 people and causing property damage on the first anniversary of the Gaza war, Reuters reports.
Hezbollah claimed it targeted a military base south of Haifa using “Fadi 1” missiles and launched another attack on Tiberia. Israel’s military said five rockets were launched at Haifa and 15 against Tiberia, some of them intercepted. Israel launched retaliatory airstrikes against Hezbollah positions in Beirut and southern Lebanon, hitting command centers and weapons storage facilities.
This escalation comes amidst heightened tensions in the region during the anniversary of the deadly Hamas attack last year that killed 1,200 Israelis, leading to a devastating war in Gaza. The violence has caused widespread displacement, particularly in southern Lebanon, raising concerns about a larger regional conflict involving Iran and the US.
