Tech billionaire Elon Musk made an appearance alongside Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, calling the upcoming presidential election critical for the preservation of American democracy, AP News reports.
Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, expressed support for Trump and framed him as a defender of free speech, criticizing Democrats for allegedly attempting to infringe on various rights, including speech, gun ownership, and voting. Musk, who was wearing a “Make America Great Again” cap and referring to himself as “Dark MAGA,” suggested that this election could be the last if Trump does not win.
This marked Musk’s first appearance at a Trump rally, signaling a growing alliance between the two ahead of the election. Musk has also created a super PAC to support Trump’s campaign. Trump has also indicated plans to appoint Musk to lead a government efficiency commission if elected.
The rally took place at the same location where Trump survived an assassination attempt in July, which left one supporter dead and several others injured.
