Hezbollah’s Acting Leader Vows to Continue Fight After Nasrallah’s Death

Hezbollah’s acting leader Naim Qassem declared the group’s commitment to continue its fight against Israel despite significant losses, including the recent death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and six top commanders due to Israeli airstrikes, AP News reports.

Qassem stated that Hezbollah is prepared for a prolonged conflict, emphasizing that replacements for the fallen commanders are already in place. Recent Israeli strikes have targeted numerous militant locations in Lebanon, resulting in over 1,000 fatalities in the past two weeks, including women and children. Hezbollah has retaliated with increased rocket attacks into northern Israel, although most have been intercepted.

Despite this, Qassem asserted that Hezbollah’s military capabilities remain intact and that the group is ready to respond if Israel escalates its military operations. The ongoing conflict has led to significant displacement on both sides, with the Lebanese government estimating up to a million displaced individuals.

The US and its allies have called for a ceasefire to prevent further escalation, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has shown little interest in halting operations, celebrating military successes against Hezbollah.
