Israel announced it had secured an $8.7 billion aid package from the United States to bolster its military capabilities amidst ongoing conflicts with Hamas and Hezbollah, Reuters reports.
The package includes $3.5 billion for essential wartime procurement, already allocated for military purchases, and $5.2 billion for air defense systems like the Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and a new advanced laser system. The aid was discussed during negotiations at the Pentagon between Israeli defense officials and US counterparts.
Israel’s Defense Ministry emphasized that this investment strengthens critical defense systems and highlights the strong strategic partnership between Israel and the US, particularly in addressing regional threats from Iran and its affiliated militias.
