The Israeli military has called on residents of southern Lebanon to evacuate areas where the militant group Hezbollah allegedly stores weapons, amidst escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, AP News reports.
The warning follow an exchange of heavy fire, with Hezbollah launching 150 rockets and drones into northern Israel in retaliation for Israeli strikes that killed a top commander and dozens of fighters. Israeli airstrikes targeted multiple areas in Lebanon, including regions far from the border, causing casualties and significant damage. Israel’s strikes are intended to reduce Hezbollah’s capacity to launch further attacks.
Hezbollah has vowed to continue its strikes in solidarity with Hamas, which is also engaged in conflict with Israel. The situation remains tense, with Israel insisting it will push Hezbollah back diplomatically or through force, while Hezbollah vows to continue its strikes until a ceasefire in Gaza is achieved.
