Microsoft, BlackRock to Launch $30 Billion Fund to Invest in AI Infrastructure

Microsoft and BlackRock have announced plans to launch a $30 billion fund to invest in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, focusing on building data centers and energy projects, Reuters reports.

The new fund, called the Global AI Infrastructure Investment Partnership, aims to improve AI supply chains and energy sourcing due to the high computational power and energy needs of advanced AI models. The fund will also see participation from MGX, an Abu Dhabi-backed investment company, and AI chip company Nvidia, which will provide expertise.

The partnership aims to leverage up to $100 billion, including debt financing, with investments primarily in the United States and some in partner countries.
