Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Ukraine’s Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk, a day after an F-16 jet crash that killed its pilot during a major Russian attack, Reuters reports.
Zelensky did not specify the reasons for the dismissal but indicated a need to strengthen military command and ensure personnel protection. General Lieutenant Anatoliy Kryvonozhka will temporarily assume the role of Air Force Commander. The cause of the crash is under investigation, with initial reports suggesting it was not due to Russian fire, but could be due to pilot error or mechanical failure.
