Israeli special forces successfully rescued Qaid Farhan Alkadi, a 52-year-old Israeli hostage, from a tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip, Reuters reports.
Alkadi, who had been held by Hamas since October 7, 2023, was transferred to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. The successful rescue has been praised by Israeli leaders, with President Isaac Herzog celebrating the rescue as a moment of joy for Israel. Despite this success, 108 hostages remain in Gaza, with around a third confirmed dead and the fate of the others still uncertain.
