Former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has endorsed Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, marking a significant shift away from her former party, AP News reports.
Gabbard, a National Guard veteran and former Hawaii congresswoman, appeared with Trump in Detroit, where she praised his leadership and criticized the Biden administration’s foreign policy, particularly US involvement in multiple conflicts and the Afghanistan withdrawal. Gabbard, who had previously supported Bernie Sanders and ran for president in 2020 as a Democrat, became an independent in 2022, criticizing the Democratic Party as being dominated by “warmongers” and “woke” ideologues.
Additionally, Gabbard is set to moderate a town hall with Trump in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Her endorsement follows a similar recent move by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who also switched his support to Trump after suspending his own presidential campaign.
