An Israeli airstrike on a school housing displaced people in Gaza killed at least 30 Palestinians, including 15 children and eight women, and wounded more than 100, according to Palestinian health officials, Reuters reports.
Israel claimed the strike targeted militants using the school as a base, which Hamas denies. The bombing in Deir Al-Balah left significant destruction, with scenes of ambulances rushing the injured to Al-Aqsa Hospital. Additionally, Israeli military actions in Khan Younis killed 14 people, and further strikes in Gaza killed nine. Violence also escalated in the West Bank, with an Israeli drone killing a militant after gunfire on an Israeli army post.
Israel accused Hamas of using civilians as human shields, while Hamas refuted these claims. The UN and humanitarian officials accuse Israel of disproportionate force and failing to protect civilians, which Israel denies.
