Israel Declares Two More Israeli Hostages Held in Gaza Dead

Israel announced on Monday that two more hostages, Yagev Buchshtab ,35, and Alex Dancyg, 76, have been declared dead while in Gaza captivity, Reuters reports.

They were both taken from their homes in kibbutzim near the Gaza border during the October 7 attack on southern Israel. The Israeli military is investigating their deaths. Negotiations for a ceasefire, which will include talks on releasing the approximately 120 remaining hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, are scheduled to resume later this week. The Hostage Families Forum criticized the slow pace of negotiations.

Poland, which Dancyg was a dual citizen of, has expressed sorrow and is calling for the unconditional release of all captives. Israel has declared about a third of the remaining hostages in Gaza to be dead.
