A global tech outage caused by a software update from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike affected approximately 8.5 million Microsoft devices, less than 1% of all Windows machines, according to Microsoft, Reuters reports.
The outage disrupted numerous critical services, including air travel, broadcasting, and healthcare. It led to thousands of flight cancellations and significant delays. Delta Air Lines, one of the hardest-hit companies, reported over 600 canceled flights and anticipated more cancellations.
CrowdStrike is working on a solution to resolve the issue, and Microsoft is collaborating with Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform to address the impact across the industry.
