Alex Jones’ Assets to Be Sold to Pay $1.5B Sandy Hook Debt, Company Bankruptcy Dismissed

A federal judge has ordered the liquidation of Alex Jones’ personal assets and dismissed the bankruptcy case of his company Free Speech Systems, which owns the Infowars media platform, Associated Press reports.

Jones owes $1.5 billion for his false claims about the Sandy Hook shooting. Judge Christopher Lopez approved converting Jones’ personal bankruptcy to liquidation, allowing Sandy Hook families to pursue the $1.5 billion debt in state courts. Infowars may cease operations due to the debt, but Jones suggested he would find other ways to broadcast. He has already begun selling assets, including his Texas ranch, to pay debts.

The Sandy Hook families, having won defamation lawsuits, are also seeking Jones’ future earnings. Jones and Free Speech Systems initially filed for bankruptcy in 2022, following judgments against him for defamation and causing harassment to the victims’ families.
