Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, threatened to ban Apple devices from his companies following Apple’s announcement of a partnership with OpenAI, CNBC reports.
Musk expressed concerns on his social media platform X about the security of user information and privacy implications of this integration, calling it “an unacceptable security violation.” He criticized Apple for not developing its own AI and relying on OpenAI’s ChatGPT for Siri enhancements.
Apple’s AI update, which allows Siri to use ChatGPT, includes user permission to share questions with the chatbot, with assurances that data won’t be logged. Musk argued this is insufficient and threatened to ban Apple devices from his companies if OpenAI is integrated at the operating system level. He also warned visitors to his companies would need to leave their Apple devices at the door.
