He was convicted nearly two years ago for refusing to testify or provide documents to the committee. Bannon’s defense argued he was negotiating with the committee and acting on his attorney’s advice that the subpoena was invalid, but the court found no merit in his challenges.
Bannon’s case is part of a broader investigation into Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election, with other Trump aides like Peter Navarro also facing similar charges. Additionally, Bannon is facing unrelated criminal charges in New York for allegedly defrauding donors in a scheme related to building a border wall.
