Israeli Army Finds Bodies of 3 Hostages in Gaza Killed on Oct. 7

The Israeli military reported that its troops in Gaza have discovered the bodies of three Israeli hostages killed by Hamas during the October 7 attack, Associated Press reports.

Among the victims was 22-year-old German-Israeli Shani Louk, whose body was infamously displayed in a pickup truck which drew global attention to the severity of the attack. The other two victims were 28-year-old Amit Buskila and 56-year-old Itzhak Gelerenter, all killed while fleeing the Nova music festival near the Gaza border. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the deaths as “heartbreaking” and reiterated his commitment to recovering all hostages. The exact location and circumstances of the discovery were not disclosed.

The attack by Hamas resulted in the death of approximately 1,200 Israelis and the abduction of around 250 others, with about half of the hostages later released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. Despite ongoing efforts and international mediation, around 100 hostages and 30 bodies remain in Gaza. The conflict has led to significant casualties, with over 35,000 Palestinians killed according to Gaza health officials.
