The attack occurred following an Israeli strike on an Iranian consular building in Syria, which resulted in the death of a senior Iranian general. The seized ship was identified as the MSC Aries and is associated with the London-based Zodiac Maritime, a company owned by Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer. Video footage shows Iranian commandos rappelling onto the vessel’s deck from a helicopter.
This latest incident adds fuel to an already volatile situation in the Middle East, as tensions simmer over the ongoing conflicts between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
