Iran Seizes Container Ship Near Strait of Hormuz Amid Tensions with Israel

Iranian Revolutionary Guard commandos seized a container ship affiliated with Israel in the Gulf of Oman near Fujairah has raised tensions between the two nations, Associated Press reports.

The attack occurred following an Israeli strike on an Iranian consular building in Syria, which resulted in the death of a senior Iranian general. The seized ship was identified as the MSC Aries and is associated with the London-based Zodiac Maritime, a company owned by Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer. Video footage shows Iranian commandos rappelling onto the vessel’s deck from a helicopter.
