Five Dead in Coach Crash on German Motorway

A Flixbus coach traveling from Berlin to Zurich veered off the A9 highway near Leipzig, Germany, resulting in at least five fatalities and several injuries, Deutsche Welle reports.

The bus was carrying 53 passengers and two drivers when it veered off the highway for unknown reasons, leaving passengers injured and the vehicle on its side. The accident occurred near the Leipzig/Halle airport interchange, with rescue efforts involving helicopters and ambulances. The autobahn was closed in both directions as authorities responded to the incident.

Flixbus, a popular choice among young travelers for its affordable fares, expressed cooperation with authorities to determine the cause of the crash. Initial reports suggest no involvement of other vehicles, hinting at potential technical or human error.
