The incident occurred during the early hours of the morning, minimizing traffic on the bridge. Several vehicles plunged into the water, prompting a rescue operation for potential survivors. Two individuals were rescued, with one in serious condition, and authorities searching for more.
The container ship involved, named the Dali, was en route to Sri Lanka from Baltimore and hit a bridge pillar while under the control of two pilots. All crew members were reported safe, with no injuries. The cause of the crash remains unclear.
