US to Send New Weapons Package Worth $300 Million to Ukraine

The United States announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth $300 million, utilizing unanticipated cost savings from Pentagon contracts, Reuters reports.

The aid includes artillery rounds and munitions for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), but officials stress it’s only a short-term solution. This move comes amid Republican leaders’ opposition to additional funding for Kyiv. The US is also considering seizing $285 billion in Russian assets to fund Ukraine’s weaponry.

Poland’s president and prime minister met with President Joe Biden to discuss bolstering support for Ukraine, emphasizing the significance of financial assistance. Meanwhile, Denmark also pledges military aid to Ukraine, and the EU plans to allocate additional funds for military shipments to Ukraine.
