Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated in an interview with a German newspaper that at least 13,000 “terrorists” were among Palestinians killed during Israel’s assault on Gaza, Reuters reports.
Palestinian health authorities report nearly 31,000 Palestinian casualties since the start of Israel’s campaign following a Hamas-led attack on southern Israel. The breakdown of casualties between civilians and militants is not specified, but they note that 72% of those killed were women and children.
Netanyahu emphasized the importance of extending the offensive into Rafah in southern Gaza to defeat Hamas, claiming that three-quarters of Hamas battalions had been destroyed. He warned that halting the offensive would allow Hamas to regroup.
