Donald Trump has challenged US President Joe Biden to TV debates as they both head towards a potential rematch for the White House following a successful Super Tuesday for Trump, BBC reports.
Trump expresses willingness to participate “anytime, anywhere, anyplace,” emphasizing the importance of discussing vital issues for America and its people. Trump suggested that the debates could be organized by the Democratic National Committee or the Commission on Presidential Debates, which he criticized as biased and a subsidiary of the Democratic party. Trump’s proposal comes after his last Republican rival Nikki Haley withdrew from the presidential race.
The Biden campaign did not confirm whether Biden would participate in a debate against Trump, stating that it would be discussed at the appropriate time, urging Trump to watch Biden’s upcoming State of the Union address instead.
This challenge comes after Trump refused to participate in TV debates with his Republican rivals during the Republican nomination, citing his lead in the polls. During the 2020 election, Biden and Trump debated each other twice.
