Donald Trump Dominates Super Tuesday Contests

On Super Tuesday, former US President Donald Trump emerged victorious in a series of Republican primary contests across 15 states, solidifying his position as the frontrunner in the Republican presidential nomination race, Reuters reports.

More than a third of Republican delegates, around 865 of 2,429, were up for grabs on Super Tuesday, with a candidate requiring 1,1215 delegates to secure the Republican nomination.

Trump won convincingly in multiple states including Virginia, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, Maine, Arkansas, Alabama, Massachusetts, Colorado, California, Minnesota, Alaska, and Utah, a total of 848 delegates.

His main rival for the nomination, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, faced a tough challenge in gaining ground despite efforts to appeal to independent voters. Haley managed to win only in Vermont, where she won due to the state’s more moderate Republican base, securing 17 delegates.
