The Brandenburg state’s interior ministry suspects deliberate ignition of a high-voltage transmission line. Police are investigating an email allegedly from a far-left group called the “Volcano Group” claiming responsibility for the incident, accusing Tesla of exploitation and calling for the destruction of the gigafactory. While power was restored in surrounding areas, Tesla remained without electricity.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk condemned the incident, questioning their environmental goals and the decision to halt electric vehicle production. Environmental activists have been protesting against Tesla’s plans to expand its facility, which involves deforestation.
