The United States and Britain conducted airstrikes on 18 Houthi targets in Yemen in response to recent attacks by the Iran-backed militia group on ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, Associated Press reports.
This is the fourth joint operation by the US and UK since January 12th and the strikes targeted missiles, launchers, drones, and air defense systems. The US has been conducting daily strikes to eliminate Houthi threats, including missiles and drones targeting ships.
The airstrikes come amid a surge in attacks by the Houthis, with at least 57 incidents reported since November 19th. The Houthis denounced the strikes and vowed to continue their military operations.
