Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump stated in an interview that if elected in November, he would reimpose tariffs on China that could potentially exceed 60%, Reuters reports.
Trump, the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, had previously imposed tariffs on Chinese goods during his term. The Biden administration maintained these tariffs and introduced new restrictions on advanced semiconductors. The US trade representative is currently conducting a review of these tariffs.
Trump dismissed the idea of starting another trade war with China, emphasizing his positive relationship with China and Chinese President Xi Jinping during his term.
