The United States and Britain conducted airstrikes targeting 36 Houthi locations in Yemen as part of efforts to counter Iran-backed groups, Associated Press reports.
The strikes, involving warships and fighter jets, marked the third joint operation targeting Houthi weapons storage, missile systems, air defense, and drone-related facilities. The Houthi attacks pose a threat to shipping in the Red Sea, leading to the rerouting of vessels and the establishment of a joint mission for air defense.
The Biden administration hinted at further strikes, emphasizing the consequences if Houthi attacks on international shipping persist. The move comes after recent retaliatory strikes in Iraq and Syria against Iran-backed militias following a drone attack in Jordan that killed three US troops.
