A man armed with a knife and a hammer wounded three people in an early morning attack at Gare de Lyon train station in Paris, Associated Press reports.
Passersby intervened to help railway police officers detain the suspect. The injured individuals include one seriously wounded person undergoing surgery and two others with lighter injuries.
The attacker, carrying residency papers from Italy and undergoing psychiatric treatment, was quickly taken into police custody. Authorities believe the individual suffers from psychiatric issues, and there is no indication of a terrorist motive.
