Iran Launches Three Satellites Into Space

Iran claims the successful launch of three satellites into space using a Simorgh rocket, despite five previous failed attempts in the Simorgh program, Associated Press reports.

The launched satellites are named Mahda, Kayhan-2, and Hatef-1, serving various purposes, including research, global positioning, and communication. While Iran insists on the civilian nature of its space program, the US has previously criticized Iran’s satellite launches for violating a UN Security Council resolution.

The US expresses concern over Iran’s satellite launches, as the Simorgh program is seen as having dual-use potential for intercontinental ballistic missiles. France, Germany, and the UK condemn the Iranian satellite launch, citing concerns about ballistic missile technologies.
