A man suspected of killing eight people in suburban Chicago, fatally shot himself at a gas station in Natalia, Texas, after a confrontation with law enforcement officials, Associated Press reports.
Authorities had been searching for a suspect, identified as Romeo Nance, after eight people were found dead at three separate homes in the Chicago suburbs. The motive for the killings remains unknown, but authorities believe Nance knew the victims.
US Marshals located Nance about 30 miles southwest of San Antonio. Authorities had warned the public about Nance, describing him as armed and dangerous. The standoff near Natalia occurred after the FBI’s fugitive task force assisted local police in the search for the suspect.
