The online multiplayer game “Palworld,” described as “Pokémon with guns,” has achieved significant success by selling five million copies in just three days after its launch, BBC reports.
Developed by the Japanese company Pocketpair, the game features a multiplayer monster-collecting concept with open-world survival elements. Players, referred to as “pal-tamers,” engage in battles with both human foes and creatures known as “pals,” which can be captured and recruited for various purposes.
However, the game has faced criticism for its character design, accused of resembling Pokémon, and gameplay similarities with other survival games. Despite the controversy, Palworld reported almost 1.3 million concurrent players at its peak and has a “very positive” user rating on Steam.
