Germany witnessed widespread protests against the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, with hundreds of thousands of people taking to the streets, Reuters reports.
The demonstrations gained momentum after reports of a meeting of right-wing extremists discussing migration policies, including mass deportations. AfD, polling second nationally, denies these plans as party policy.
Rallies took place in various cities, including Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Leipzig, and Dresden, drawing higher-than-expected turnouts. Protestors, numbering around 300,000 nationwide, expressed opposition to right-wing extremism.
