Arnold Schwarzenegger was detained for several hours at Munich Airport in Germany after arriving with a luxury watch, potentially to be auctioned at a charity event, Associated Press reports.
The former movie star was stopped for a routine check, and the allegedly undeclared Audemars Piguet watch, valued at about 20,000 euros ($21,739), prompted customs scrutiny. Goods over 430 euros ($467) entering the EU must be declared.
Schwarzenegger’s Climate Initiative stated he cooperated and agreed to prepay potential taxes on the watch. The watch is likely to be auctioned, with proceeds supporting Schwarzenegger’s charity efforts for after-school programs and environmental initiatives.
