Emmy-winning actor Andre Braugher, known for his roles in “Homicide: Life on The Street” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” has passed away at the age of 61 after a brief illness, Associated Press reports.
The Chicago-born actor gained recognition for his role as Det. Frank Pembleton in the police drama “Homicide,” winning his first Emmy in 1998. He later transitioned to comedy as Capt. Ray Holt in “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” which ran for eight seasons and received four Emmy nominations during the show’s run.
Braugher’s career spanned film, television, and stage, with notable roles in “Glory,” “Primal Fear,” and “Thief.” He won a second Emmy for “Thief” in 2006 and received a total of 11 Emmy nominations.
