Former US President Donald Trump announced on social media that he would not testify for a second time at his New York civil fraud trial, Associated Press reports.
Trump, a leading contender for the 2024 Republican nomination, stated that he had already testified conclusively last month and saw no need to do so again. Trump’s decision to cancel his testimony comes after his son Eric Trump also canceled his return appearance on the witness stand.
The trial, initiated by New York Attorney General Letitia James, alleges that Trump inflated his wealth on financial statements used in securing loans and making deals.
