The US Senate has blocked a $110.5 billion emergency spending bill aimed at providing new security assistance to Ukraine and Israel, Reuters reports.
The vote was 49-51 along party lines, falling short of the 60 votes needed to start the debate. Republicans opposed the measure, demanding tougher immigration control at the US-Mexico border.
The bill included $50 billion for Ukraine’s security and $14 billion for Israel. The impasse raises concerns about delayed aid for Ukraine and Israel and threatens to stretch into 2024.
