Universal Pictures’ “Oppenheimer” directed by Christopher Nolan is set to screen in Japan in 2024, according to the Japanese distributor Bitters End, Reuters reports.
The biopic about J. Robert Oppenheimer, a pioneer in atomic bomb development, has garnered global success, grossing over $950 million since its July release, and is expected to be a frontrunner for various film awards.
The film faced criticism in Japan for allegedly downplaying the devastation caused by the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War Two resulted in over 200,000 deaths.
