Netanyahu Alleges Global Indifference to Sexual Crimes by Hamas

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticizes women’s rights and human rights organizations for not addressing the allegations of sexual assault committed by Hamas militants during the October 7th attack in Israel, Associated Press reports.

Witnesses describe instances of rape and sexual violence against women during the assault on an outdoor music festival as part of the rampage by Hamas and other Gaza militants that killed about 1,200 people and took more than 240 hostages.

Police are looking through 60,000 videos from body cameras carried by Hamas attackers, social media, and security cameras as well as 1,000 testimonies to bring perpetrators to justice.

The Physicians for Human Rights Israel organization acknowledges widespread sexual and gender-based crimes during the attacks, but it remains uncertain whether they were systematic or ordered. Hamas denies the allegations.

Israel’s government accuses the international community, particularly the United Nations, of overlooking the suffering of Israeli victims.
