Israel has reportedly informed Arab states, including Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, about its plan to establish a buffer zone on the Palestinian side of Gaza’s border, according to regional sources, Reuters reports.
The proposed buffer zone aims to prevent future attacks and is part of Israel’s future security plans for Gaza. The proposal includes a three-tier plan focused on destroying Hamas, demilitarizing Gaza, and de-radicalizing the enclave.
Arab states express concerns about reducing Palestinian territory, fearing Israel aims to displace Palestinians from Gaza. The proposal is still under examination, and its depth remains uncertain, raising concerns about the potential impact on Gaza’s population.
Israel emphasizes the security measure’s intent and states it does not plan to permanently remain on the Gaza side of the border.
